129 VICTORIA St

Location, historic ambience and spacious grounds--everything to be admired in an Old Town Niagara home! This imposing, well maintained Victorian villa built circa 1860 in the Gothic Revival style displays all the characteristics of that picturesque architectural period to include the three bay facade, centre-hall floor plan, gabled roof, spacious front verandah, ginger bread trim, decorative small steeple and the white picket fence. Only half a block from the Niagara River and Lake Ontario, one block from vibrant Queen St and close walking distance to parks, golf course and Shaw Festival theatres this location could not be better! The home is set in extra large beautifully landscaped, grounds characteristic of estate lots found throughout the Old Town. Apart from the addition of necessary modern updates many original details remain including an impressive front entrance with 3 light transom, wood floors, generous trim work, windows and shutters, 4 panel doors and an elegant staircase with button newel post and decorative spindles. The three tastefully decorated, spacious principal rooms are light and airy with high ceilings and tall arched windows. A bright country kitchen with lots of cupboard storage and counterspace adjoins a large laundry and mud room area. Four attractively decorated bedrooms and 2 updated bathrooms complete the upper floor. The lush colorful gardens provide several sitting areas including a Moroccan inspired courtyard. Marrakech Mansion has been enjoyed in recent years as a very successful boutique holiday rental but retains the ambience of a large comfortable home for which it is still well suited.
